I just happened to see this ‘conversation’ column. It is really revealing. Professor Dasgupta’s sharp observations on literature and literary sensibilities should make us think about the purpose of meaningful education, particularly at a time when education has been reduced into mere ‘training’ for a marketable ‘skill’. A society that does not understand the significance of Tagore and Eliot, Dostoyevsky and Premchand, Kafka and Muktibodh is bound to decay. It is good that your magazine has not forgotten this wisdom. Carry on, friends. You are bound to succeed!
