In a post-truth world where truth has been Trump-ed by propaganda, the demise of Fidel Castro truly marks the end of an era. I completely share the sentiments of the writer. One cannot help but feel nostalgic about the greatest stalwart, statesman and revolutionary of the cold war era. Castro is not just an icon but an institution in himself. To be able to defy US imperialism, establish an alternative way of running society and government and lead a poor country from the front is no mean achievement. His ‘Motorcycle Diaries’ is an enchanting read that offers a glimpse into the restless yet emphatic mind of the young Castro. The only way to keep him alive is to read and engage with his thoughts presented through his speeches and writings. Viva la revolucion! Viva la Castro!
