The foundation stone laying ceremony for the much awaited Ram Temple at Ayodhya captured the national imagination lately and days after the grand affair, we are being told that the Trust which is spearheading the building of a mosque at the designated space has now planned to invite Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the inauguration of the public utilities that would be built in the mosque premises.
The Trust which is spearheading the task of mosque construction in Ayodhya has been constructed by the Sunni Waqf Board and this Trust has plans to extend an invitation to the state’s chief minster for the purpose. CM Yogi Adityanath is being invited by the Trust to inaugurate the public facilities like a school, hospital and community kitchen that are to be built in the mosque premises.
The invitation came as a shock to him because just two days ago, he had said that it was highly impossible that he would be invited for such an event. It was on August 7 that the UP CM Yogi Adityanath had said that he would not be interested in attending the inauguration of a mosque in Ayodhya even if he is invited for such an event because he is a practicing Hindu and also noted that there was no possibility of anyone inviting him either for such an
event. He said, “ The day they will invite me, then a lot of people’s secularism will be in danger.” He also noted that while he would go for the inauguration of the mosque even if he was invited, he said that his way of working would be to make sure that the benefits of state led schemes reach all members of the society.
Thee mosque Board asserts that there is no provision for foundation stone laying in any of the four schools of Sunni Islam but they would be keen on having UP CM Yogi Adityanath for inaugurating the construction of public utilities at the mosque premises. The name of the mosque has still not been decided but the Trust has decided to refrain from naming it after Babar, unlike the mosque which was demolished.
