The continuous rainfall in the state of Bihar has already led to the deaths of forty people. The state is preparing itself for extreme flooding, which may soon be seen as a result of incessant rainfall over the last couple of days.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has discussed the flood situation with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and assured that the Central government will stand firmly with Bihar in this moment of crisis.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the state of Bihar is likely to see more rainfall in the upcoming days and areas throughout Bihar are likely to remain submerged.
India recorded its highest monsoon this year since 1994.
As the state of Bihar continues to grapple with the ongoing flood situation, essential supplies of food and water are being supplied to the people by air dropping by the State government and efforts are being made to restore electricity in the flood affected areas of Bihar.
The NDRD and SDRF teams are also carrying out their relief operations in low lying areas of the state capital. Several trains and flights have been cancelled and rescheduled owing to the flood situation in Bihar.
