It has been reported that Kashif Jameel, Kafeel Khan’s brother was shot at thrice at Gorakhpur. The doctor Kafeel Khan had gone to jail as it had been alleged that he was involved in the death of infants at BRD Hospital, Gorakhpur due to shortage of oxygen.

In a shocking incident Kashif Jameel, Kafeel Khan’s brother was shot at three times at Gorakhpur on Saturday. The injured Kashif Jameel has survived and is admitted at the Star Hospital, Gorakhpur.
Kafeel Khan is one of the accused in the shortage of oxygen in the BRD Hospital in which several children died due to oxygen running out and lack of coordination in arranging for oxygen. Kafeel Khan went to jail for seven months and is released on bail at present. Kashi Jameel survived after he was hit by three bullets.
The accused doctor has alleged that he was warned by family that they could be killed. Khan’s case captured media’s coverage as he had taken the initiative to secure oxygen supplies for the infants admitted in the hospital that were dying due to the shortage of oxygen. Charges of running a private practice were also claimed on the doctor. Other than the doctor staffs from the hospital were also in jail.
Over two hundred health activists from across the country had written a letter to the UP Chief Minister demanding justice for Khan, his immediate release and negation of false charges against him. The letter asserted that Khan did his best to regulate the situation because children were dying because of lack of oxygen facility and he had worked towards arranging supply in order to save the children. It was stated in the letter that kafeel’s work should be acknowledged and celebrated by the society.
