Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Says No to Independence Day Celebrations Due to COVID-19

The whole country is presently battling the coronavirus pandemic and all efforts are presently under way to ensure that the spread of the infection is controlled as much as possible and we can minimise the infection and death rates. It is in this context that the government  of Madhya Pradesh has decided that there will be no Independence Day celebrations this year on August 15. 

The Madhya Pradesh government led by CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan confirmed the decision of the state government during a press briefing. It has been decided that there will not be any public function this year with school children. 

The chief minister of the state will be delivering a speech which will be broadcasted by the media and television channels. But the usual practice of having public representatives hoist flags at the district and tehsil levels will not take place. 

The celebrations will be observed at a single place by the chief minister of the state and all the members of the council of ministers will be attending.At the district and tehsil level government officials will ensure that the formalities are done.
