The National Investigation Agency(NIA) has gone ahead and arrested a person from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in association with the Pulwama attack. This person has been arrested from the erstwhile state for providing shelter and mobile phones to the terrorists who were involved in the 2019 attacks in Pulwama that left 4o CRPF jawans dead.
The person who has been arrested by the NIA has bee identified as Bilal Ahmed Kuchey and he is from Kakapora in Pulwama.
He was produced before the NIA court in Jammu on Monday and has been allowed a 10 day remand for his custodial interrogations to proceed.
Bilal Ahmed is the owner of a sawmill. He has harboured and given logistical aid and support to the Jaish-e-Mohammad militants who were involved in the Pulwama attacks, according to the NIA.
The main perpetrators of the attack had lived in Bilal Ahmed’s own house before the incident. He is quite a wealthy and well-off businessman of the aeea and comes from the same area as that of Adil Ahmed who had driven the bomb laden car that had exploded close to the CRPF bus that blasted and led to the brutal death of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama.
Bilal Ahmed had brought expensive and high end mobiles for the terrorists and given them shelter in his own home according to NIA. He is also known to the first person who was arrested in this case, Shakir Bashir Magrey, who was allegedly held for conducting reconnaissance for the attack according to NIA reports.
The NIA officials clarified that Bilal Ahmed had arranged for them to stay prior to the attack and had introduced them to other Over Ground Workers who had given them same places to stay and plan the attack in. At least 4O CRPF were killed in the Pulwama attack on February 14 at Pulwama ,Jammu and Kashmir.
It was in March that the NIA had made an arrest of five people for their alleged involvement in the case. The sixth suspects named Mohammad Iqbal Rather had been arrested on July 2 for having been involved in the transportation of bomb-maker Mohammad Umer from the border of Jammu to Pulwama to take the plan to its culmination.
