RSS & Sister Organisations Welcome NEP 2020, Say NEP Meets 60% of its Recommendations

After the introduction of NEP 2020, many organisations affiliated to the RSS have shown their happiness and approval of the much awaited document.

The National Education Policy was released in the public domain yesterday and the organisations which are affixed to the RSS cannot help but express their fondness and approval of the document. The organisations that subscribe to the RSS or are its offshoots have come forward and said that they are indeed very pleased with the way the document looks and find their ideas to be in a great degree of synchrony with its propositions.

Calling it a much awaited announcement, they see it as a landmark moment in the history of curriculum writing in the country. With a great degree of excitement and happiness they have welcomed the NEP and are waiting for it to come under full implementation so that the prices of curriculum design and textbook writing can begin afresh in tune with the document’s recommendations.

One of the most important aspects that have been welcomed by the organisations, is the document’s assertion on the renaming of the Human Resource Ministry into the Ministry of Education. This renaming had been demanded by the Sangh Parivar for quite sometime. If one were to look at a 2016 paper the appeared in a conference on Bharat Both organised by the Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal(BSM), it is there that a disagreement had been raised on calling “human beings” resources.

They therefore wanted that the HRD Ministry be called the ministry of education and culture, as it had been known during the time India had gained independence. It had also demanded that both the culture and the HRD Ministry be made into one and all its 150 offshoots and cultural institutions come under one uniform umbrella, although this demand couldn’t be fulfilled. But the renaming of the HRD Ministry has been appreciated. The Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal(a crucial RSS affiliate) has said that almost 60% of its suggestions have found place in the NEP and they are happy that the HRD Ministry has also been renamed, there has been a decision to form a Rashtriya Shiksha Aayog, the formation of National Research Foundation and bringing in a multidisciplinary and flexible approach to education.

The other most signifiant demand that has been fulfilled is that now teaching will be done in the mother tongue till five, a demand that the RSS has been keen on for the last many decades. Other demands of RSS and its affiliates such as inclusion of Bharat Centric Values, flexibility in higher educational institutions such that drop-outs too can have certificates, possibility of opting for subjects across disciplines, training in social and community services have also been met by the NEP.

The RSS and its sister bodies are extremely pleased with how NEP 2020 has turned out and are looking forward to its implementation across the educational institutions of India.
