The Narmada Bachao Andolan founder Medha Patkar along with four other women activists continue with their hunger strike in Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh. The hunger strike is being observed against the various unfulfilled demands of the protestors such as the reduction of the water levels of the Narmada, completion of the remaining rehabilitation work etc. The water level in the Narmada has been increasing consistently due to the increase in the water levels of the Omkareshwar and Indira Sagar dams. The protestors of the NBA movement allege that rehabilitation and resettlement work has yet not been completed for thousands of people who have been displaced by the dam. The NBA demands that the SSD should not be filled to full capacity unless the rehabilitation process is completed.
