Massive explosions in Lebanon’s capital Beirut

On August 4th, a major blast in the city of Beirut was reported in which buildings were seen being blown away and a massive smoke could be seen rising up to become a gigantic cloud sending shock waves across the city. Many videos and pictures of the incident have been doing the rounds and the event has really captured the attention of the world. Both the explosions have been reported within minutes of each other and the site of the explosions was near the central port area of the city.The officials said that the cause of explosion was highly reactive chemical ammonium nitrate. The chemical was stored in a heavy amount that blew up and sent shockwaves across Beirut.


PM performed Bhoomi Pujan at Ram Janmabhoomi : PM Narendra Modi , Mohan Bhagwat, Yogi Adityanath along with others participated in Ayodhya’s Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. PM laid a 40-kg silver brick for Ram temple at Aayodhya. After the bhoomi pujan rituals PM addressed “It is an emotional moment for India. A long wait ends today. A grand temple will now be built for Lord Ram who had been living under a tent for many years”. He called the day ‘a historic moment’. A great Ram temple will be constructed. UP CM and RSS chief also addressed the gathering.


Highest Recovery in a Day from COVID-19 :  Total number of cases reached up to 19 lakh in India on Wednesday with 52,509 people testing positive for the coronavirus in a day, while the recoveries have mounted to 12,82,215, according to the Union Health Ministry data.


Theatre Director Ebrahim Alkazi Passes Away: Ebrahim Alkazi was a renowned theatre director and he also known for his contribution towards modern Indian theatre. Ebrahim Alkazi died of heart attack at the age of 94. Ebrahim Alkazi also served as the director of NSD ( National School of Drama) from 1962 to 1977.


CBI Inquiry Approved by Centre into Sushant Singh Rajput death: The Centre g informed the Supreme Court that the it has accepted the Bihar government’s plea for an inquiry by CBI into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The actor was found dead in his Mumbai home on June 14. The Mumbai police was investigating the case and recorded statements of some directors and Sushant’s friend. Last week Bihar police reached Mumbai for investigation in the suicide case but an important official was denied access and was sent to quarantine, after this, the Bihar government sent a request for CBI enquiry into the case.


Exhaustion of MGNREGS Funds & Shortage of Work Days, APF Report : The MGNREGS came to the rescue of thousands of people across the country and provided guaranteed employment to them amid what can be seen as one of the most adverse situations in recent history. However what is worrying is that so far the scheme has already ended up spending close to half of the budget that had been allocated to it for the financial year 2020-21. The total money that has been spent on the project is Rs 48,759 crore and the total funds that had been allocated to it was Rs 1 lakh crore for the entire financial year.
