BHOPAL | The controversial candidature of Pragya Thakur from Bhopal on behalf of the BJP was much talked about and even condemned on various news channels and media platforms. Political analysts and opposition leaders spoke against the BJP’s decision of choosing a crime accused as its candidate.
However as results begin to reveal an increasingly defined victory for the BJP, it emerges that Pragya Thakur an accused in the Malegaon blasts case is leading against Digvijay Singh of the Congress from the Bhopal seat.
Pragya Thakur seemed extremely confident about her victory and said that the peoples’ mandate would clearly be in her favour, she also claimed that her candidature would bring about an end to adharma or immorality.
The results of the elections in Bhopal would be carefully watched by the nation because not only was the BJP’s candidate crime accused but she had also been placed against Congress leader and three time Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh. The BJP has responded to criticisms against Pragya Thakur’s candidature by arguing against the existence of any form of Hindu terror, political analysts look at this as being a patronising effort for a terror accused. Pragya Thakur was also recently in the news for making controversial remarks on Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse.
The PM Narendra Modi said that he would be unable to forgive Prgaya Thakur for her remarks against the father of the nation but failed to issue any concrete steps in the direction.
