Travelling gives us the insight to climb the mountains, and cross the rivers within. The photo essay emanates from this moment of awakening in a Himalayan hamlet.
The Himalayan landscape is a treasure of wonders; each moment comes alive with the unique play of light and shadow, sunshine and rain. As the traveller proceeds on her journey, she is both amazed and humbled by nature’s greatness and yet its ability to be so intimate to each passing soul.
Twists and turns are the essence of the mountains; each curve brings new surprises, new lessons. The traveller learns and unlearns this secret to a happy living.
Step by step the journey unfolds itself until it reaches its destination. The road of light and shadow is also the road of life. The traveller takes back many memories with him and these bring him back again and again.
The landscape, the fragrance of the fresh air liberate the mind and soul. Then the knower and the known become one, the poet and the poetry become one.
What accompanies the traveller all throughout this journey are the trees of deodar and pine. These tree are the aspirations of the mountains which rise from the soul and reach the skies. At night, if you listen carefully they whisper in your ears- the song of blissful solitude.
The Himalayan mystery engulfs one for a lifetime. If one goes once, he goes again and again to witness the silent purity of existence.
