As tensions between India and China escalate, the United States of America is reviewing its global deployment of forces to ensure that they are postured adequately to help India counter China’s People Liberation Army.

China has been posing unprecedented threat to countries like India, Malaysia, Philippines in recent months and its relations with India have become particularly tense after the face-off at Galwan.

Pompeo made these remarks during the virtual session of the Brussels Forum 2020 of the German Marshall Fund.

Pompeo stated, “ We are going to make sure we’re postured appropriately to counter PLA. We think that the challenge of our times, and we’re going to make sure we have resources in place to do that.”

This review of military and strategic posturing had been undertaken under the guidance of US President Donald Trump, as part of which the country has been engaging in reducing the number of its troops in Germany from 52,000 to 25,000. He said that the force posture will be dictated by ground realities.
