The Bihar assembly elections which will be carried out across three phases began on October 28. The voter turnout on Wednesday was 52.24% until 5pm. The first phase of elections that began on October 28 will consist of elections in 71 seats out of the total 243 seats where voting will be casted.
The Opposition has been quite weary of the promises that are being made by the NDA in Bihar to woo the voters and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has even gone ahead and said that PM Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar wouldn’t be able to provide people the promised number of jobs because they comprised a weak government.
PM Narendra Modi has been travelling across Bihar and addressing several rallies across the state. While addressing people in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur, PM Narendra Modi attacked the Opposition and said that if the people decide to bring it back into power then nobody could stop the anarchy and jungle raj that had plagued Bihar from returning back into the state. It has been estimated that more than two crore people will be casting their votes in the state across the three-phased assembly elections that began on October 28.
The whole country has its eyes on the Bihar Elections because this is going to be the first state level election to be carried out after the pandemic broke out and also because several other Indian states will also be holding elections in the months to follow. Taking the pandemic into consideration, the Supreme Court of India has issued a series of guidelines and instructions for the process of campaigning and voting.
The upcoming phases are scheduled for November 3 and November 7. The results for the elections will be announced on November 10.
