The event had been organised by a group called ‘Pride and Modernity’ and was known for propagating and preaching in favour of Nazism. It is also to be acknowledged at this juncture that Poland is one of the many nations in Europe that have banned the celebration and propagation of Nazism as an ideology.

However despite the legal ban, the group continued to operate in secrecy. Thanks to the secret documentation of the event that the group could be caught red handed and finally get legally banned.

The video footage was aired in January 2018 and led to a widespread uproar throughout Poland. Poland was incidentally also one of those nations which had been occupied by Nazi Germany and experienced widespread killing and plunder under Hitler during the Second World War. In fact the Second World War erupted when Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1939.

More than six million people from Poland lost their lives under this draconian regime that lasted until 1945.

The footage of the birthday celebration showed a group of men waring Nazi-inspired uniforms performing the Nazi salute.

The country’s Internal Security Agency successfully arrested three of the participants. When their homes and offices were searched by the police, they found Nazi paraphernalia that included flags, uniforms, books and illegal arms.

The footage from the celebration also showed large Nazi flags hanging down from trees and an altar with Hitler’s picture placed on it.

The participants were seen setting fire to a large wooden swastika soaked in flammable liquid that had been affixed to a tree as the Nazi military music played in the background.
