Republic TV and two other channels under Mumbai Police Scanner for TRP manipulation

On Thursday Mumbai Police arrested two persons with a false TRP racket. The police is looking into the matter of TRP manipulation by Republic TV and two other channels. 

“The name of Republic channel is coming out in the investigation. Its directors, promoters or employees are likely to be involved. We are in the process of investigating them” said Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

He added, As part of the racket, households were told to keep a certain channel switched on all the time. “Illiterate homes were asked to keep English channels on,” Singh said. “There was false TRP spreading. TRP ratings were being bought. The manipulation was mainly for advertising revenues.”


Clashed between West Bengal Police and BJP workers during protests: BJP workers staged a protest against the deteriorating law and order situation in the state on Thursday in Howrah district of West Bengal. During the protest the workers clashed with the police. The video’s shows that the police used water cannons to disperse the protestors.

West Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh accused the police of beating BJP party workers.

Concessions for Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Migrants : Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri migrants and Hindu families will get concession in college admissions. As per the latest notice by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), these students will get a relaxation in cut-off up to 10 per cent and the number of seats will be increased up to 5 per cent in each course for them, reported The Indian Express.
