We all know that like the rest of the world, India too is fighting the difficult battle against the outbreak of COVID-19.
As the cases of the coronavirus infection continue to soar, we saw how a large number of citizens went to their balconies to light candles or even flash mobile phone lights in response to PM Modi’s ‘9pm-9 minute call’. While people throughout the country lighted up candles at 9pm according to the call of the prime minister, the picture remained quite grim as 295 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the country over the last 24 hours.
What is important to note is the fact that even as the citizens went to their balconies to light up candles, diyas and even flash mobile phone flashlights, the country continued to witness a splurge in the number of COVID-19 causes.
As 295 fresh new cases were found in the last 24 hours and India has already reported nearly 90 deaths, India is certainly dealing with an immensely difficult time.
According to the data provided by the Indian Council of Medical Research till 9pm on April 5, 295 people tested positive for COVID-19.
The death toll because of the coronavirus has climbed to 89 and the number of recorded cases has climbed to over 3,570 in the country on Sunday. Over 200 new infections were reported in the country just in the last 24 hour period.
The data revealed by the health ministry, the active COVID-19 cases stand at 3,219, while 274 people were either cured or discharged and one had migrated.
Seven people have died in the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, Delhi has the highest number of comfier cases at 503.
The health ministry also made an important observation by saying that initially the rate of doubling of COVID-19 cases in India was 7.4 days but at present it is 4.1 days and this can be linked to the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation.
In the national capital region only, 63% of the COVID-19 positive cases had been linked to the Tablighi Jamaat meet that took place in Nizamuddin in March.
In the face of this challenge, the Delhi government is working with private hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.
It would not be wrong to say that the condition of our country is very bad as far as the upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases is concerned.
The picture indeed looks quite grim. Amid the nationwide lockdown over coronavirus and the continuous rise in the number of cases,PM Narendra Modi made an appeal to the citizens to switch off lights at home at 9pm on Sunday and light up candles or diyas or even use the flashlights in their phones as a symbolic gesture to say that they stand in solidarity and unity in these moments of crisis.
The call became quite successful and millions of people responded by switching off their lights and lighting up candles and diyas responding to PM Modi’s appeal before the nation.
Earlier, the PM had appealed to the people of the nation to show gratitude to healthcare workers and other essential services providers by clapping or clinging bells, conches or hitting spoons against plates during the ‘Janta Curfew’ on March 22.
