Rape-accused Goodman Nithyananda has once again made his entry into the world of controversies by converting his own Island near Ecuador into a Hindu country. The reports of the rape-accused Goodman setting up his own island country ‘ Republic of Kailaasa’ near Ecuador has taken everyone by shock, especially at a time when the Indian government is looking for him in India.
It is to be noted that the self-proclaimed Goodman is presently being probed in several cases such as rape, torture, kidnapping and wrongful kidnapping of children under the Indian Penal Code. He had fled the country following a case of kidnapping and wrongful confinement of children to make them collect donations for his ashram in Ahmedabad. He is also accused of raping a former disciple in the garb of spirituality.
The exact location of Nithyananda’s newly created Hindu nation is still a mystery, but its website tells us that it is a nation without borders and has been created by dispossessed Hindus from across the globe. These are the Hindus who have lost the freedom to practice Hinduism authentically in their own countries. News reports tell us that the rape-accused Goodman bought an island from Ecuador, a country located in South America’s West Coast to convert into the Republic of Kailaasa. It was only some time ago that this self-professed Goodman had escaped to Ecuador from India via Nepal.
The website of ‘Kailaasa’ tells us that it offers a “safe haven to all the world’s practising Hindus… where they can peacefully live and express their spirituality, arts and culture free from denigration, interference and violence.”
The website also boasts of a special Wikipedia page called Nithyanadapedia(nithyanandapedia.org)
What is interesting to note is that, Nithyananda’s country has no place for Hindi but welcomes speakers of English, Tamil and Sanskrit also making them its official languages.
It even claims to have a population of 100 million Adi Shaivites and 2 billion practising Hindus.
Kailaasa has also come up with its own flag and passport. The passport offers free entry in all the eleven dimensions and fourteen lokas, including Kailaasa.
Just like any other country with a government in place, Kailaasa too has many important departments in its government such as health, technology, enlightened civilisation, human services, housing, commerce and treasury.
The website claims that Kailaasa country stands for universal free healthcare, free education, free food and the revival of a temple based lifestyle.
It is reported that the county will soon work its way through what it calls a “dharmic economy”.
The plan is to set up a Hindu Reserve Bank to channelise donations to his organisation. It is quite evident that the self-stylised god-man who is on the run from the Gujarat police and convicted in a series of heart-wrenching crimes, is busy setting up his own island country while the Indian police is on the lookout for him.
Nithyananda is known to have made numerous absurd assertions from time to time but the latest in this series has indeed taken the world by shock. What can be more ironic than the fact that one of India’s most entertaining god-men is busy setting up his
own private country near Ecuador and the Indian police is looking for him in India. While we don’t know whether the Indian police will be able to track him back to India anytime soon, what we know for sure is that Nithyananda’s ‘Kailaasa Republic’ may soon give strict competition to the present government’s aspirations for making India a completely Hindu nation.
