Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bhartiya Janta Party’s(BJP) campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls by addressing a mega rally at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi. He is holding this rally while massive protests are going on all across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA). The Prime Minister addressed lakhs of people attending the rally posing a big challenge for security personnel too as countrywide protests against the CAA are in full-swing.

While holding the rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi  said that the idea of unity in diversity was integral to India. The rally of the BJP is taking place at the historic Ramlila Maidan which is quite close to Old Delhi’s Daryaganj area that was recently hit by violence during an ongoing protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA).

The rally has been organised to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for having given ownership rights to 40 lakh residents of 1731 unauthorised colonies.

PM Modi stated, “ This is a new dawn for the people of Delhi. Both Houses gave nod to uplift the landless people of Delhi. The people who have kept the rights away from the people of Delhi can now see the joy on your faces.”

About 11 lakh signatures of residents residing in the unauthorised colonies of Delhi was handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to thank him for the passage of the National Capital Territory of Delhi( Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies)Bill, 2019 in Parliament earlier in the month.

A multi-level security arrangement has been put in place with heightened CCTV surveillance at all routes leading to the venue and snipers have been positioned atop building to ensure security arrangements. The authorities are also closely motoring social media to ensure that no kind of rumour mongering takes place, especially in the wake of the ongoing anti-CAA and NRC protests throughout the country.
