Punjab CM Amrinder Singh Orders Inquiry Into Spurious Liquor Business Nexus After 86 Deaths

After 86 people die after consuming spurious liquor in Punjab, CM Capt. Amrinder Singh suspends Excise Department officials and holds police personnel accountable

More than 86 people have lost their lives so far after consuming spurious and poisonous liquor in Amritsar and Gurdaspur regions of Punjab.  It is in this context that the chief minister of Punjab Capt. Amrinder Singh has ordered the suspension and inquiry against seven Excise and Taxation Officers and inspectors. Two DSPs and four SHOs have also been questioned in this regard.

The consumption of spurious liquor has claimed the lives of 86 people so far in Punjab over the last couple of days. He also announced Rs 2 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and promised that immediate action will be taken in this context and those involved will not be left free.

He has also condemned the action by police and the Excise department and called what has happened shameful, he has assured that nobody will be allowed to walk free after such an irresponsible and shameful act.

He went on to order a magisterial inquiry into the case and has ordered police personnel to trace and find out all parties that were involved in the act of conducting the spurious liquor business.
