The CAA Protest have once again taken up the centre stage and people have gathered in large numbers at Delhi’s Mandi House. Many people from educational institutions, civil society bodies and several other walks of life came together to register their opposition of the Citizenship(Amendment)Act and the NRC.

Protestors are also being seen holding posters and banners against the CAA as they gathered for the protest at the Mandi House even as Section 144 has been imposed in the area. Students of Jamia Milia Islamia are also present in large numbers at the agitation. The large number of people have gathered for the protest despite the presence of a large number of police personnel at the site and the administration’s imposition of Section 144 in the entire area.

Additionally, the German student who took part in the Anti-CAA protests has also been asked to leave the country by the government. Shashi Tharoor took to Twitter to support the exchange student and said that the development was dismaying.

Amid the rising Anti-CAA protests, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has called for a protest in Kolkata on Monday, while the BJP is taking out another support rally in Ahmedabad. Congress also amplified the protests against the CAA by sitting for a Satyagraha demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi’s Memorial at Rajghat.

The Jamia Coordination Committee has also called for a protest march to Union Home Minster Amit Shah’s residence in Delhi. Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has also said that he will not allow for the NRC to be implemented in Andhra Pradesh.  One of the most important personalities present at the protests is Yogendra Yadav who has been a staunch critic of the CAA and NRC projects ever since their inception and sees them as unconstitutional and against the very secular fabric of India.

Meanwhile Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are visiting Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh to meet the families of those who have been injured in the violent clashes as part of the ongoing protests against the CAA.
